About us

The Red Lily Health Board Abo­rig­i­nal Cor­po­ra­tion (RLHB) is a region­al health ser­vice that aims to empow­er Abo­rig­i­nal peo­ple in the West Arn­hem region, seek­ing to address health issues in the com­mu­ni­ty with the long-term vision improv­ing health out­comes by estab­lish­ing a region­al Abo­rig­i­nal com­mu­ni­ty-con­trolled mod­el of ser­vice delivery. 

About the Team 

This posi­tion is a key role in the Red Lily Pri­ma­ry Health Care team that pro­vides pri­ma­ry health care to more than a 1000 peo­ple in the West Arn­hem region (includ­ing home­lands). Engage­ment and col­lab­o­ra­tion with oth­er com­mu­ni­ties and teams with­in Red Lily and beyond will be nec­es­sary to ensure that the com­mu­ni­ties receive high qual­i­ty ser­vices and achieve opti­mal outcomes.

About Gun­bal­anya:

Locat­ed in the heart of Arn­hem Land, Gun­bal­anya is a vibrant Abo­rig­i­nal com­mu­ni­ty sit­u­at­ed 300km east of Dar­win and 60km north­east of Jabiru, across the scenic East Alli­ga­tor Riv­er. The town is home to a strong and con­nect­ed com­mu­ni­ty with a range of essen­tial ser­vices and facil­i­ties, including:

  • A school (pre-school to Year 12)
  • Super­mar­ket, ser­vice sta­tion, and con­ve­nience store
  • Police sta­tion, crèche facil­i­ties, and aged care services
  • Sports and social club, butch­er, and com­mu­ni­ty arts centre

About the role

As a Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­er (GP) in a remote Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trolled Health Organ­i­sa­tion (ACCHO), and as part of a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary remote pri­ma­ry health care team, you’ll pro­vide com­pre­hen­sive pri­ma­ry health­care, address­ing the unique needs of Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander com­mu­ni­ties, in a cul­tur­al­ly sen­si­tive and com­mu­ni­ty-led way. 

The GP role in a remote ACCHO is chal­leng­ing but reward­ing, with the oppor­tu­ni­ty to: 

  • Work with­in a ded­i­cat­ed team to advance the health out­comes of the Abo­rig­i­nal com­mu­ni­ty in the West Arn­hem region.
  • Share in the devel­op­ment of a per­ma­nent GP ser­vice, based on the unique needs of the res­i­dents of the community.

Our ide­al candidate 

  1. Holds spe­cial­ist Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­er reg­is­tra­tion with Med­ical Board of Aus­tralia (AHPRA).
  2. Is a Fel­low of the Roy­al Aus­tralian Col­lege of Gen­er­al Prac­ti­tion­ers (RACGP) or the Aus­tralian Col­lege of Rur­al and Remote Med­i­cine (ACR­RM).
  3. Is an Aus­tralian cit­i­zen or per­ma­nent resident.
  4. Has a broad-based pri­ma­ry care expe­ri­ence in a rural/​remote set­ting, ide­al­ly in Indige­nous health.
  5. Is cul­tur­al­ly aware with knowl­edge of cur­rent issues impact­ing remote Indige­nous communities.
  6. Accred­i­ta­tion or expe­ri­ence as a GP super­vi­sor is advantageous.
