As a Health Prac­ti­tion­er, you’ll play a key role in skin health and rheumat­ic heart dis­ease pre­ven­tion, pro­vide clin­i­cal care, and pro­mote bet­ter health out­comes across the Gulf region.

  • Salary range: $98,555 to $116,189 p/​a + ben­e­fits / allowances

About the role


In this vital role, you’ll deliv­er high-qual­i­ty, cul­tur­al­ly respon­sive pri­ma­ry health­care to Abo­rig­i­nal
and Tor­res Strait Islander peo­ple and com­mu­ni­ties. You’ll be part of a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team
com­mit­ted to improv­ing health out­comes and advanc­ing the NWHHS Health Equi­ty Strat­e­gy.

Your key respon­si­bil­i­ties include:




  • Deliv­er clin­i­cal and health pro­mo­tion ser­vices for Skin Health and Rheumat­ic Heart Dis­ease.
  • Con­duct assess­ments, edu­ca­tion, and cul­tur­al­ly appro­pri­ate care plans. 
  • Collab­o­rate with Gidgee Heal­ing, GPs, and the Townsville Pub­lic Health Unit. 
  • Lead com­mu­ni­ty engage­ment and out­reach across Gulf communities. 
  • Con­tribute to ser­vice plan­ning, improve­ment, and qual­i­ty care delivery. 
  • Uphold cul­tur­al safe­ty and NWHHS val­ues in all aspects of work .


Require­ments

  • Suc­cess­ful­ly com­plet­ed a Cer­tifi­cate IV Abo­rig­i­nal Tor­res Strait Islander Pri­ma­ry Health Care (Prac­tice) and / or Diplo­ma in Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander Pri­ma­ry Health and holds Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander Health Prac­ti­tion­er Board of Australia (ATSIH­P­BA).
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Dis­crim­i­na­tion Act 1991, there is a gen­uine occu­pa­tion­al require­ment for the incum­bent to be Indige­nous to the Abo­rig­i­nal or Tor­res Strait Islander Com­mu­ni­ty.
  • C Class Motor Vehi­cle Licence. 
  • Pre-employ­ment screen­ing will be con­duct­ed for the suc­cess­ful appli­cant, includ­ing Crim­i­nal His­to­ry checks. 
  • This is a VPD risk role and may require evi­dence of vac­ci­na­tion or immu­ni­ty to: Hepati­tis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubel­la, Vari­cel­la, Per­tus­sis, and Tuberculosis. 
  • A peri­od of pro­ba­tion may apply.
