Join North West Hospital and Health Service in a rewarding permanent full-time role, delivering
culturally safe and responsive healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
As a Health Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in skin health and rheumatic heart disease prevention, provide clinical care, and promote better health outcomes across the Gulf region.

- Salary range: $98,555 to $116,189 p/a + benefits / allowances
- Status: Permanent full-time role available

About the role
In this vital role, you’ll deliver high-quality, culturally responsive primary healthcare to Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team
committed to improving health outcomes and advancing the NWHHS Health Equity Strategy.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Deliver clinical and health promotion services for Skin Health and Rheumatic Heart Disease.
- Conduct assessments, education, and culturally appropriate care plans.
- Collaborate with Gidgee Healing, GPs, and the Townsville Public Health Unit.
- Lead community engagement and outreach across Gulf communities.
- Contribute to service planning, improvement, and quality care delivery.
- Uphold cultural safety and NWHHS values in all aspects of work .
Requirements
- Successfully completed a Certificate IV Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) and / or Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health and holds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner Board of Australia (ATSIHPBA).
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
- C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
