The Broome Region­al Abo­rig­i­nal Med­ical Ser­vice (BRAMS) is an Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trolled Health Ser­vice which has been car­ing for the Broome com­mu­ni­ty for more than 45 years. When we first opened our doors in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Abo­rig­i­nal Med­ical Ser­vice in West­ern Australia.

We deliv­er com­pre­hen­sive, holis­tic and cul­tur­al­ly respon­sive pri­ma­ry health care, social and emo­tion­al well­be­ing ser­vices, and NDIS sup­port to more than 6500 Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander peo­ple in the Broome region.

Job Description

About the Role

This role ensures the deliv­ery of safe, high-qual­i­ty, and cul­tur­al­ly respon­sive care to old­er Abo­rig­i­nal clients. Work­ing across a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team, the Clin­i­cal Lead will guide clin­i­cal prac­tice, sup­port staff devel­op­ment, and con­tribute to con­tin­u­ous qual­i­ty improve­ment with­in the aged care pro­grams. The posi­tion also includes gen­er­al nurs­ing respon­si­bil­i­ties to sup­port holis­tic, per­son-cen­tred care.

About you

Can­di­dates for the posi­tion of Aged Care Clin­i­cal Lead must address the fol­low­ing selec­tion cri­te­ria in your cov­er let­ter to be con­sid­ered for the position:

  • Cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion as a Reg­is­tered Nurse with Aus­tralian Health Prac­ti­tion­er Reg­u­la­tion Agency.
  • Demon­strat­ed expe­ri­ence in aged care and/​or com­mu­ni­ty nurs­ing, ide­al­ly in an Abo­rig­i­nal health context
  • Strong lead­er­ship, men­tor­ing, and clin­i­cal deci­sion-mak­ing skills
  • Expe­ri­ence in clin­i­cal gov­er­nance, includ­ing qual­i­ty improve­ment and com­pli­ance with aged care standards
  • Excel­lent inter­per­son­al and com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills
  • Cul­tur­al aware­ness and under­stand­ing of the health issues affect­ing Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander people

Desir­able criteria

  • Post­grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tions in aged care, chron­ic dis­ease man­age­ment, or com­mu­ni­ty nursing
  • Expe­ri­ence work­ing in remote or Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trolled Health Organ­i­sa­tions (ACCHOs)
  • Knowl­edge of My Aged Care and aged care fund­ing models
