Location: North West Tasmania

This role is based within Spencer Clinic, a Mental Health Inpatient Unit (SCIU) that offers consumers 19 inpatient beds, including 2 bed high-dependency unit. Spencer Clinic is located within the North-West Regional Hospital, barely 5 minutes from Burnie's CBD.

Whilst SCIU has expe­ri­enced clin­i­cians, it is pre­dom­i­nant­ly a young team which is devel­op­ing con­stant­ly and is the future suc­ces­sion plan­ning. This posi­tion ensures expe­ri­enced clin­i­cians are hand­ing down their knowl­edge and skill base to the junior team mem­bers for that suc­ces­sion plan­ning to succeed.

The Role:
The Asso­ciate Nurse Unit Man­ag­er (ANUM) is an expe­ri­enced nurse who, with­in the defined area of prac­tice. works in part­ner­ship with the Nurse Unit Man­ag­er (NUM) and oth­er senior staff, to ensure the effi­cient and effec­tive pro­vi­sion of care based on best prac­tice prin­ci­ples with­in a col­lab­o­ra­tive and mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary framework.

You will need: 

  • Demon­strat­ed clin­i­cal expe­ri­ence in the rel­e­vant prac­tice area, with the capac­i­ty to pro­vide clin­i­cal lead­er­ship, exer­cise pro­fes­sion­al judge­ment and ini­tia­tive and work with min­i­mal supervision. 
  • Demon­strat­ed abil­i­ty to under­stand the busi­ness of the unit/​service in deliv­er­ing the best out­comes with­in avail­able resources, includ­ing a demon­strat­ed under­stand­ing of patient flow prin­ci­ples and dis­charge plan­ning in the pur­suit of patient/​client goals with­in a con­tem­po­rary health­care framework. 
  • Demon­strat­ed abil­i­ty to con­tribute to the eval­u­a­tion, inno­va­tion and devel­op­ment of ser­vices pro­vid­ed by the unit/​service and the review of clin­i­cal prac­tice pol­i­cy, pro­ce­dures and protocols.

The Depart­ment of Health Tas­ma­nia over­sees var­i­ous hos­pi­tals across the state, includ­ing the Roy­al Hobart Hos­pi­tal, Launce­s­ton Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, North­west Region­al Hos­pi­tal, and Mersey Com­mu­ni­ty Hos­pi­tal, as well as dis­trict hos­pi­tals and ambu­lance ser­vices.
Addi­tion­al­ly, it pro­vides com­mu­ni­ty health, men­tal health, and pri­ma­ry health­care ser­vices to the Tas­man­ian com­mu­ni­ty through more than 300 sites.

Details of appoint­ment:
Per­ma­nent, part time, shift work­er posi­tion, work­ing 48 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing as soon as possible.

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar full time, part time, and casu­al vacancies.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employ­er 12% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­ma­nia State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023.

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available: 

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10% based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type

You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing liv­ing expens­es up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible.
