About us
The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which has been caring for the Broome community for more than 45 years. When we first opened our doors in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia.
We deliver comprehensive, holistic and culturally responsive primary health care, NDIS, Aged Care and Community Services to more than 6,500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Broome region.

About the role
The Cancer Clinical Lead plays an important role in improving cancer outcomes for Aboriginal people in our community. This position provides clinical leadership and expertise across the cancer care pathway, including screening, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and follow-up.
The Cancer Clinical Lead coordinates and monitors patient care, supports patients and families to navigate the health system, and works closely with the Aboriginal Cancer Support Officer for practical and emotional support.
Working within the BRAMS Model of Care and Quality Care Framework, the Cancer Clinical Lead leads initiatives to increase cancer screening rates and early diagnosis, builds the capacity of clinicians, and partners with the Health Promotion Team to develop relevant cancer education and awareness activities.
This position also works in partnership with hospitals, specialists and other services to strengthen referral pathways and address barriers to care for patients and families.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will need to address the following selection criteria:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- Experience working within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Service or similar setting
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to working within the BRAMS Model of Care and Quality Care Framework
