The Role:

As Clin­i­cal Nurse Con­sul­tant (CNC) at West Coast Dis­trict Hos­pi­tal, you will pro­vide expert clin­i­cal lead­er­ship and con­sul­tan­cy across inpa­tient and emer­gency ser­vices. This role is piv­otal in sup­port­ing safe, high-qual­i­ty care and dri­ving con­tin­u­ous improve­ment in clin­i­cal practice.

With­in a safe­ty and qual­i­ty frame­work and in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Nurse Unit Man­ag­er (NUM) and Direc­tor of Nurs­ing – West Coast (DON), you will:

  • Deliv­er advanced clin­i­cal exper­tise and guid­ance to nurs­ing and mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary teams.
  • Lead ini­tia­tives that enhance patient out­comes, safe­ty, and ser­vice delivery.
  • Sup­port the devel­op­ment and imple­men­ta­tion of clin­i­cal stan­dards, pro­to­cols, and qual­i­ty improve­ment strategies.
  • Act as a resource and men­tor for staff, pro­mot­ing evi­dence-based prac­tice and clin­i­cal excellence.

You will need:

  • Advanced Clin­i­cal Knowl­edge: Demon­strat­ed expe­ri­ence in rur­al health nurs­ing, con­tem­po­rary nurs­ing issues and the coor­di­na­tion of nurs­ing prac­tice, togeth­er with a demon­strat­ed com­mit­ment to the under­stand­ing of pri­ma­ry health care prin­ci­ples and prac­tice and the abil­i­ty to apply these require­ments in a lead­er­ship role with­in a rur­al health emer­gency and inpa­tient setting.
  • Lead­er­ship & Influ­ence: Proven abil­i­ty to lead clin­i­cal ini­tia­tives, men­tor staff, and con­tribute to strate­gic plan­ning and ser­vice development.
  • Qual­i­ty & Safe­ty Focus: Expe­ri­ence in imple­ment­ing and eval­u­at­ing clin­i­cal gov­er­nance frame­works, qual­i­ty improve­ment pro­grams, and risk man­age­ment strategies.
  • Col­lab­o­ra­tion & Com­mu­ni­ca­tion: High­ly devel­oped inter­per­son­al and com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills, with the abil­i­ty to work effec­tive­ly with­in mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary teams and engage stake­hold­ers in improv­ing care outcomes.

Details of appointment:

Per­ma­nent, full time, day work­er, posi­tion, work­ing up to 76 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing as soon as possible.

*notwith­stand­ing hours to be nego­ti­at­ed with the suc­cess­ful applicant.

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar full time, part time, and casu­al vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employ­er 12% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­ma­nia State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023.

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available:

  • ost Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10% based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type

Salary Pack­ag­ing:

You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing up to $9,010 for liv­ing expens­es + $2,650 for meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible.

Region­al Allowance

  • Remote and Rur­al Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment Allowance of $3,797per annum
  • 10% remote allowance
