The Role:

You will work col­lab­o­ra­tive­ly with nurs­ing, med­ical, and allied health pro­fes­sion­als to ensure the deliv­ery of safe, high-qual­i­ty, per­son-cen­tred care aligned with the Strength­ened Aged Care Qual­i­ty Standards.

Key respon­si­bil­i­ties include:

  • Lead­ing and pro­mot­ing best prac­tice aged care nurs­ing and geri­atric medicine.
  • Act­ing as the Infec­tion Con­trol Lead for WCDH, ensur­ing com­pli­ance with infec­tion pre­ven­tion pro­to­cols and sup­port­ing staff edu­ca­tion and monitoring.
  • Con­duct­ing com­pre­hen­sive assess­ments and care plan­ning in col­lab­o­ra­tion with res­i­dents, fam­i­lies, guardians, and the broad­er health­care team.
  • Pro­vid­ing expert clin­i­cal advice and act­ing as a resource for staff across all aspects of aged care.
  • Sup­port­ing qual­i­ty improve­ment, clin­i­cal risk man­age­ment, and com­pli­ance activities.
  • Col­lab­o­rat­ing with the Activ­i­ties Coor­di­na­tor to plan and over­see res­i­dent activities.
  • Assist­ing the NUM and DON with doc­u­men­ta­tion, report­ing, pol­i­cy devel­op­ment, and admis­sion processes.
  • Sup­port­ing edu­ca­tion and pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment in aged care nurs­ing in con­junc­tion with the Clin­i­cal Nurse Educator.

You will need:

  • Clin­i­cal Exper­tise: Advanced knowl­edge and assess­ment skills in aged care nurs­ing and geri­atric med­i­cine, with a strong com­mit­ment to evi­dence-based practice.
  • Lead­er­ship & Influ­ence: Proven abil­i­ty to lead clin­i­cal ini­tia­tives, men­tor staff, and con­tribute to strate­gic plan­ning and ser­vice development.
  • Infec­tion Con­trol Knowl­edge: Demon­strat­ed expe­ri­ence in infec­tion pre­ven­tion and con­trol prac­tices, with the abil­i­ty to lead and mon­i­tor com­pli­ance in a res­i­den­tial aged care setting.
  • Qual­i­ty & Com­pli­ance Focus: Expe­ri­ence in qual­i­ty improve­ment, pol­i­cy devel­op­ment, and com­pli­ance with aged care leg­is­la­tion and standards.
  • Com­mu­ni­ca­tion & Col­lab­o­ra­tion: High­ly devel­oped inter­per­son­al and com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills, with the abil­i­ty to work effec­tive­ly with­in mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary teams and engage fam­i­lies, car­ers, and exter­nal providers.
  • Reg­u­la­to­ry Knowl­edge: Com­pre­hen­sive under­stand­ing of the Aged Care Act, Aged Care Qual­i­ty Stan­dards, and manda­to­ry report­ing requirements.

Details of appointment:

Per­ma­nent, full time, day work­er, posi­tion, work­ing up to 76 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing as soon as possible.

*notwith­stand­ing hours to be nego­ti­at­ed with the suc­cess­ful applicant.

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar full time, part time, and casu­al vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employ­er 12% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­ma­nia State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023.

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available:

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10% based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type

Salary Pack­ag­ing:

You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing up to $9,010 for liv­ing expens­es + $2,650 for meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible.

Region­al Allowance

  • Remote and Rur­al Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment Allowance of $3,797 per annum
  • 10% remote allowance
