Primary Health Services North West is seeking a dedicated professional to work within our team. This position is responsible for leading and coordinating the infection control activities within the Primary Health portfolio of services across the District Hospitals and Community Health Services.

The Role:

Pri­ma­ry Health Ser­vices North West is seek­ing a ded­i­cat­ed pro­fes­sion­al to work with­in our team. This posi­tion is respon­si­ble for lead­ing and coor­di­nat­ing the infec­tion con­trol activ­i­ties with­in the Pri­ma­ry Health port­fo­lio of ser­vices across the Dis­trict Hos­pi­tals and Com­mu­ni­ty Health Ser­vices. This essen­tial posi­tion sup­ports the strate­gic direc­tion, oper­a­tional process­es and deliv­ery of a high stan­dard of clin­i­cal care through­out the Pri­ma­ry Health sites and ser­vices. This includes act­ing as our rep­re­sen­ta­tive at var­i­ous region­al and state-wide meet­ings to ensure the pro­vi­sion of expert advice and sup­port from the Infec­tion Pre­ven­tion and Con­trol perspective.

The role of the Clin­i­cal Nurse Con­sul­tant (CNC) — Infec­tion Pre­ven­tion & Con­trol is to:

  • Liaise, con­sult and sup­port the North West Pri­ma­ry Health Ser­vices (Dis­trict Hos­pi­tals, Aged Care and Com­mu­ni­ty Health Ser­vices) in the devel­op­ment and imple­men­ta­tion of infec­tion con­trol poli­cies, prac­tice, pro­grams and edu­ca­tion and train­ing pro­grams in con­junc­tion with the Tas­man­ian Infec­tion Pre­ven­tion and Con­trol Unit (TIPCU) to pro­vide safe qual­i­ty patient/​resident/​client care.
  • Iden­ti­fy the learn­ing and sup­port require­ments of the Pri­ma­ry Health Ser­vices in the North West and, with the sup­port of TIPCU, incor­po­rate these into the Nation­al and Statewide initiatives/​direction framework.
  • Work col­lab­o­ra­tive­ly with the Infec­tion Pre­ven­tion and Con­trol CNC — Mersey Com­mu­ni­ty Hos­pi­tal and North West Region­al Hos­pi­tal in the deliv­ery of infec­tion con­trol pro­grams through­out the North West.
  • Pro­vide the Nurs­ing Direc­tor — Pri­ma­ry Health North West with high lev­el qual­i­ty and author­i­ta­tive advice and support

Details of appointment:

Per­ma­nent, part time, day work­er posi­tion, work­ing up to 64 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing from 29 Decem­ber 2025.

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar full time, part time, and casu­al vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employ­er 12% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­ma­nia State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023.

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available:

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type
