As the Clinical Nurse, you will play a key role in treating illness, promoting wellbeing, and maintaining health systems to improve health outcomes for remand and sentenced prisoners at Alice Springs Correctional Centre (ASCC).

About the Role:
As the Clin­i­cal Nurse, you will play a key role in treat­ing ill­ness, pro­mot­ing well­be­ing, and main­tain­ing health sys­tems to improve health out­comes for remand and sen­tenced pris­on­ers at Alice Springs Cor­rec­tion­al Cen­tre (ASCC). This role involves deliv­er­ing pri­ma­ry health care ser­vices in a chal­leng­ing and dynam­ic envi­ron­ment, con­tribut­ing to the over­all health and well­be­ing of the indi­vid­u­als in your care and works with­in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary pri­ma­ry health ser­vice deliv­ery frame­work oper­at­ing 7 days per week offer­ing shift work oppor­tu­ni­ties.
You will report to the Dis­trict Man­ag­er of Prison Health, pro­vid­ing sound clin­i­cal and pro­fes­sion­al care that pos­i­tive­ly impacts work process­es, ser­vices, and clients with­in the spe­cial­i­ty area.

About You:
To be suc­cess­ful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Demon­strat­ed under­stand­ing of issues affect­ing Abo­rig­i­nal health 
  • Demon­strat­ed under­stand­ing of the prin­ci­ples of Pri­ma­ry Health Care 
  • A grad­u­ate cer­tifi­cate in a rel­e­vant spe­cial­ty area.
  • Well-devel­oped knowl­edge, skills, and expe­ri­ence in nurs­ing, with an abil­i­ty to act as a clin­i­cal resource for oth­er staff.
  • Abil­i­ty to men­tor and sup­port junior staff and con­tribute to clin­i­cal edu­ca­tion and qual­i­ty improve­ment initiatives.
  • Abil­i­ty to meet the North­ern Ter­ri­to­ry Cor­rec­tion­al Ser­vices secu­ri­ty clear­ance requirements

You’ll need to be adapt­able to shift-based work, with a will­ing­ness to engage in a chal­leng­ing yet reward­ing health­care envi­ron­ment in a cor­rec­tion­al setting.
