 Sig­nif­i­cant clin­i­cal knowl­edge, expe­ri­ence, and lead­er­ship in Com­mu­ni­ty health
nurs­ing.

 Demon­strat­ed knowl­edge of cul­tur­al fac­tors and social deter­mi­nants par­tic­u­lar­ly
relat­ing to Abo­rig­i­nal health.

 Advanced inter­per­son­al and com­mu­ni­ca­tion (writ­ten and ver­bal) skills in a 
mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team.

Posi­tion Pro­file:

The Clin­i­cal Nurse Spe­cial­ist – Com­mu­ni­ty Health is respon­si­ble for the coor­di­na­tion of pri­ma­ry health care for vul­ner­a­ble chil­dren and fam­i­lies with­in the com­mu­ni­ty set­ting, col­lab­o­rates and advo­cates with key stake­hold­ers with­in and out­side the region. Col­lects data and pre­pares reports for spe­cif­ic child health projects. Acts as a role mod­el and con­sul­tant to nurs­es and oth­er health ser­vice providers pro­vid­ing knowl­edge, clin­i­cal exper­tise and best prac­tice with­in area of responsibility.

The WA Coun­try Health Ser­vice (WACHS) Mid­west health region of West­ern Aus­tralia cov­ers more than 470,000 square kilo­me­tres, near­ly one fifth of the State, with its pop­u­la­tion con­cen­trat­ed along the coast. The region is locat­ed in the north­ern mid­dle sec­tion of West­ern Aus­tralia and incor­po­rates three health dis­tricts — Gas­coyne, Ger­ald­ton, Mid­west and Murchi­son, is recog­nised for its unique nat­ur­al envi­ron­ment and is a cul­tur­al­ly diverse region with Abo­rig­i­nal peo­ple rep­re­sent­ing 13% of the over­all pop­u­la­tion.
