About the Role:

This role offers an oppor­tu­ni­ty to lead the Red Lily Clin­i­cal Ser­vices team based in Gun­bal­anya, deliv­er­ing high-qual­i­ty, cul­tur­al­ly safe pri­ma­ry health­care to the local com­mu­ni­ty. Draw­ing on your exten­sive nurs­ing expe­ri­ence, skills, and exper­tise in Abo­rig­i­nal health, you will over­see the day-to-day man­age­ment of a Remote Health Centre.

Suc­cess in this role requires a deep under­stand­ing of the key health chal­lenges affect­ing Abo­rig­i­nal com­mu­ni­ties, a strong foun­da­tion in Pri­ma­ry Health Care prin­ci­ples, and knowl­edge of the leg­is­la­tion gov­ern­ing remote health prac­tice. This is a chance to make a mean­ing­ful impact, work­ing in part­ner­ship with the com­mu­ni­ty to improve health outcomes.

In this role, you will:

  1. Deliv­er com­pre­hen­sive Pri­ma­ry Health Care (PHC) using a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary approach and endorsed protocols.
  2. Main­tain accu­rate doc­u­men­ta­tion and health records to ensure con­ti­nu­ity of care.
  3. Pro­vide cul­tur­al­ly appro­pri­ate health edu­ca­tion, sup­port­ing com­mu­ni­ty participation.
  4. Sup­port and pro­mote Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­ers (AHPs) as pri­ma­ry health­care providers.
  5. Engage in ongo­ing edu­ca­tion and pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment for self and team.
  6. Con­tribute to Qual­i­ty & Safe­ty pro­grams, includ­ing pol­i­cy and pro­to­col development.
  7. Par­tic­i­pate in per­for­mance man­age­ment and pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment activities.
  8. Assist with staff ori­en­ta­tion to sup­port team­work and integration.
  9. Sup­port the devel­op­ment and review of the Organ­i­sa­tion­al Plan.
  10. Par­tic­i­pate in a 24-hour on-call roster.

Our ide­al candidate:

  1. Is a reg­is­tered nurse with AHPRA and holds rel­e­vant post-basic or post grad­u­ate qualifications.
  2. Brings exten­sive expe­ri­ence and demon­strat­ed skills in remote area nurs­ing, with an under­stand­ing of the roles with­in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary pri­ma­ry health care team in Aus­tralian indige­nous communities.
  3. Effec­tive­ly inter­acts with peo­ple from diverse cul­tur­al back­grounds, demon­strat­ing a strong grasp of Abo­rig­i­nal health issues, cul­tur­al safe­ty, and health determinants.
  4. Pos­sess­es knowl­edge and expe­ri­ence in imple­ment­ing pri­ma­ry health care pro­grams and nav­i­gat­ing rel­e­vant leg­is­la­tion gov­ern­ing remote work practices.
  5. Demon­strates a com­mit­ment to qual­i­ty improve­ment, work­place health and safe­ty, research, edu­ca­tion, and pro­fes­sion­al development.
  6. Has high­ly devel­oped inter­per­son­al, prob­lem-solv­ing, com­mu­ni­ca­tion, and IT skills, and is will­ing to uti­lize health IT systems.
  7. Holds (or is eli­gi­ble for) an NT man­u­al driver’s license, police clear­ance, Ochre Card, and Land Coun­cil work permit.
  8. Is ready to trav­el to remote com­mu­ni­ties by air and 4WD, reside in a remote set­ting, and par­tic­i­pate in a 24-hour on-call roster.
