Full time fixed vacan­cy for 6 months

The Depart­ment of Health man­ages the North­ern Ter­ri­to­ry pub­lic health sys­tem, oper­at­ing as one sys­tem across 5 regions, pro­vid­ing the full spec­trum of essen­tial, qual­i­ty health ser­vices, from health pro­mo­tion to pre­ven­tion, treat­ment, reha­bil­i­ta­tion, and pal­lia­tive care across the life course. 

As the Nurse Clin­i­cal Coor­di­na­tor – Dia­betes Edu­ca­tor you pro­vide spe­cial­ist clin­i­cal care, advice and edu­ca­tion­al ser­vices for a client group with diverse and/​or com­plex care require­ments and con­tribute to the devel­op­ment of qual­i­ty sys­tems that sup­port remote areas in the man­age­ment of Dia­betes and Vas­cu­lar dis­eases. In addi­tion, you will pro­vide sound pro­fes­sion­al advice crit­i­cal in deal­ing with issues relat­ed to assess­ment, plan­ning, review, eval­u­a­tion, and coor­di­na­tion of client care.

To be suc­cess­ful, you will be an accom­plished Nurse with cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia with demon­strat­ed advanced clin­i­cal knowl­edge, skills and expe­ri­ence, well-devel­oped clin­i­cal deci­sion-mak­ing and prob­lem-solv­ing skills and pro­fi­cien­cy in the under­stand­ing, appli­ca­tion, analy­sis and inter­pre­ta­tion of a pro­fes­sion­al body of knowl­edge. Effec­tive com­mu­ni­ca­tion and inter­per­son­al skills, the abil­i­ty to man­age con­flict and pro­mote coop­er­a­tion and well-devel­oped appre­ci­a­tion of the social and cul­tur­al issues and sen­si­tiv­i­ties relat­ing to pro­vid­ing health care in rur­al com­mu­ni­ties is essen­tial. As the role ser­vices remote com­mu­ni­ties, you will be required to trav­el by 4WD or light air­craft on a reg­u­lar basis and stay in com­mu­ni­ty for a num­ber of days.

The Region has deep spir­i­tu­al ori­gins dat­ing back more than 30,000 years, and an abun­dance of rich cul­ture and his­to­ry. The town is sur­round­ed by stun­ning nat­ur­al beau­ty, includ­ing the Mac­Don­nell Ranges and the Red Cen­tre Desert. About 450kms down the road is Ulu­ru, a large sand­stone rock for­ma­tion that is a spec­tac­u­lar sight any time of the year.
