Nurse Level 4 Remuneration Package Range $140,786 — $151,125 (including salary $120,114 — $130,347) + allowances

The Role
As the Health Promotion School Nurse, you will be part of the multidisciplinary PPHC team, based at Nhulunbuy High School and operating from the Nhulunbuy
Community Care Centre. You will work closely with students from both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal backgrounds and collaborate with Education staff, Police, Miwatj Health, and other key service providers.
This is a rewarding role that supports the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of young people, underpinned by a strong health promotion and primary health care philosophy.
Key Duties
- Deliver school-based health services and health promotion programs, including:
- Curriculum-based, age-appropriate sexual health education
- School immunisation programs in line with NT Health guidelines
- First Aid training for students
- Provide social and emotional support to students, referring to SEWB Officers as needed
- Conduct specialist clinical outreach, health monitoring, and care for students and their families
- Offer parenting support and early intervention strategies to support family wellbeing
- Contribute to youth-focused, school-based health programs aligned with Primary Health Care and Health Promotion principles
- Provide education and mentoring to PPHC staff and support professional development
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to strengthen school– community partnerships
About you
To be successful, applicants will have:
- Current or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Strong clinical knowledge and skills, with excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to mentor and support staff, students, and graduates within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in contributing to policy development and supporting organisational change.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy.
- An understanding of social and cultural factors affecting healthcare provision for Aboriginal clients.
