Bark­ly AOD (Alco­hol and Oth­er Drugs) Ser­vice
Bark­ly AOD (Alco­hol and Oth­er Drugs) Ser­vice is a spe­cial­ist, nurse-led ser­vice that oper­ates with­in a trau­ma informed prac­tice, harm min­imi­sa­tion mod­el of care. The ser­vice pro­vides spe­cialised assess­ment, treat­ment and refer­ral and a non-res­i­den­tial coun­selling ser­vice for peo­ple with alco­hol, drugs, and volatile substances. 

About the Role
As the Nurse Clin­i­cal Coor­di­na­tor (AOD), you will pro­vide clin­i­cal lead­er­ship, con­duct a range of assess­ments, pro­vide ther­a­peu­tic inter­ven­tions, case man­age­ment and edu­ca­tion on issues relat­ing to addic­tion includ­ing treat­ment options to staff, clients, and fam­i­ly mem­bers, oth­er agen­cies and com­mu­ni­ty ser­vices using evi­denced based practice. 

You’ll work with­in a mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary team sup­port­ing Ten­nant Creek Hos­pi­tal, the town­ship of Ten­nant Creek with remote trav­el to sup­port the Bark­ly Remote communities.

About you
You’re a skilled AOD clin­i­cian with a strong foun­da­tion and lead­er­ship skills ready to sup­port region­al and remote com­mu­ni­ties. To be suc­cess­ful in this role you’ll have:

  • Cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia or eli­gi­ble for same. 
  • High-lev­el clin­i­cal knowl­edge and skills in AOD or relat­ed field, sup­port­ed by strong deci­sion-mak­ing and prob­lem-solv­ing skills
  • Demon­strat­ed knowl­edge and under­stand­ing of rel­e­vant leg­is­la­tion such as Volatile Sub­stance Abuse (VSA) Act and AOD the­o­ret­i­cal frameworks.
  • Abil­i­ty to trav­el to remote com­mu­ni­ties by 4WD or light air­craft as required 
  • Hold a cur­rent NT driver’s licence (or eli­gi­ble to obtain) and be con­fi­dent dri­ving a man­u­al vehi­cle in region­al and remote settings
