As the Clinical Coordinator you are responsible for the day-to-day management of a Remote Health Centre and are responsible for providing specialist clinical care, advice and education to a client group with diverse and/or complex care requirements.

The Depart­ment of Health man­ages the North­ern Ter­ri­to­ry pub­lic health sys­tem, oper­at­ing as one sys­tem across 5 regions, pro­vid­ing the full spec­trum of essen­tial, qual­i­ty health ser­vices, from health pro­mo­tion to pre­ven­tion, treat­ment, reha­bil­i­ta­tion, and pal­lia­tive care across the life course.

As the Clin­i­cal Coor­di­na­tor you are respon­si­ble for the day-to-day man­age­ment of a Remote Health Cen­tre and are respon­si­ble for pro­vid­ing spe­cial­ist clin­i­cal care, advice and edu­ca­tion to a client group with diverse and/​or com­plex care require­ments. You will sup­port the deliv­ery of excel­lence in nursing/​midwifery care by mod­el­ling advanced knowl­edge, skills and behav­iours for the pro­vi­sion of client care and work­ing along­side less expe­ri­enced staff to assist in their fur­ther development.

To be suc­cess­ful, you will be an accom­plished Nurse with cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia with demon­strat­ed advanced clin­i­cal knowl­edge, skills and expe­ri­ence in a rel­e­vant area of nursing/​midwifery sup­port­ed by well-devel­oped clin­i­cal deci­sion mak­ing. You will have a good under­stand­ing of issues affect­ing Abo­rig­i­nal health, prin­ci­ples of Pri­ma­ry Health Care and rel­e­vant leg­is­la­tion gov­ern­ing work prac­tices in a remote health set­ting. You will also be required to hold cur­rent vac­ci­na­tion, remote emer­gency and mater­ni­ty emer­gency cer­ti­fi­cata­tion, and have the abil­i­ty to dri­ve a man­u­al vehi­cle and trav­el in 4WD and light aeroplanes.

Effec­tive com­mu­ni­ca­tion and inter­per­son­al skills with the abil­i­ty to man­age con­flict and pro­mote coop­er­a­tion is essential.

In addi­tion, you will have demon­strat­ed knowl­edge and under­stand­ing of Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander cul­ture, fam­i­ly and com­mu­ni­ty struc­tures, with the abil­i­ty to com­mu­ni­cate and work effec­tive­ly in a cul­tur­al­ly safe manner.
