As the Nurse/​Midwife Clin­i­cal Spe­cial­ist, you will be work­ing in the Healthy under 5 Kids Part­ner­ing Fam­i­lies pro­gram to pro­vide spe­cial­ist clin­i­cal out­reach care to chil­dren under 5 years and their fam­i­lies. You’ll pro­vide ear­ly inter­ven­tion strate­gies and edu­ca­tion to Pop­u­la­tion and Pri­ma­ry Health Care staff with a focus on improv­ing the health and well­be­ing of chil­dren and their fam­i­lies in a cul­tur­al­ly appro­pri­ate manner. 

The HU5KPF pro­gram incor­po­rates growth and devel­op­ment assess­ments, vac­ci­na­tions, par­ent­ing sup­port and advice in age-spe­cif­ic child health checks. 

You’ll be a proac­tive and cul­tur­al­ly respon­sive clin­i­cian, com­mit­ted to improv­ing child and fam­i­ly health out­comes. To be suc­cess­ful in this role, you’ll have:

• Cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia or eli­gi­ble for same. 
• High-lev­el clin­i­cal knowl­edge and skills in Child and Fam­i­ly Health or relat­ed field, sup­port­ed by strong deci­sion-mak­ing and prob­lem-solv­ing skills
• Com­mit­ment to a learn­ing cul­ture through clin­i­cal guid­ance and mentoring.
• Abil­i­ty to trav­el to remote com­mu­ni­ties by 4WD or light air­craft as required
• A cur­rent vac­ci­na­tion cer­tifi­cate (or eli­gi­ble to obtain)
• Hold a cur­rent NT driver’s licence (or eli­gi­ble to obtain) and be con­fi­dent dri­ving a man­u­al vehi­cle in region­al and remote settings
