The Nursing Director - Education and Training works within a quality and safety framework that fosters the implementation of person-centred care, evidenced based knowledge and clinical reasoning. In collaboration with the Executive Director of Nursing establish the strategic direction and standards for Nursing and Midwifery Education and Training within the Training and Learning Hub for Hospitals North.

Hos­pi­tals North pro­vides high-qual­i­ty, patient-focused care across a net­work of facil­i­ties. Our nurs­es and mid­wives are cen­tral to this mis­sion, sup­port­ed by robust edu­ca­tion and train­ing pro­grams that build skills, fos­ter lead­er­ship, and ensure safe, evi­dence-based practice.

The Role:

  • Lead nurs­ing and mid­wifery edu­ca­tion and train­ing strat­e­gy across Hos­pi­tals North
  • Devel­op, imple­ment, and eval­u­ate pro­grams for ori­en­ta­tion, clin­i­cal skills, and pro­fes­sion­al development
  • Dri­ve work­force capa­bil­i­ty and suc­ces­sion plan­ning through tar­get­ed learn­ing initiatives
  • Ensure com­pli­ance with accred­i­ta­tion, reg­u­la­to­ry, and qual­i­ty standards
  • Embed evi­dence-based prac­tice and clin­i­cal gov­er­nance in all edu­ca­tion activities
  • Col­lab­o­rate with uni­ver­si­ties, pro­fes­sion­al bod­ies, and inter­nal stakeholders
  • Man­age edu­ca­tion resources, bud­gets, and staff effectively

You will need:

  • Cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion as a Reg­is­tered Nurse with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia, plus post­grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tions in nurs­ing, edu­ca­tion, or health leadership.
  • Demon­strat­ed lead­er­ship in nurs­ing edu­ca­tion, work­force devel­op­ment, and com­pli­ance with accred­i­ta­tion and reg­u­la­to­ry standards.
  • Strong strate­gic, com­mu­ni­ca­tion, and stake­hold­er engage­ment skills, with expe­ri­ence in cur­ricu­lum design, dig­i­tal learn­ing, and resource management.

The Depart­ment of Health Tas­ma­nia over­sees var­i­ous hos­pi­tals across the state, includ­ing the Roy­al Hobart Hos­pi­tal, Launce­s­ton Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, North­west Region­al Hos­pi­tal, and Mersey Com­mu­ni­ty Hos­pi­tal, as well as dis­trict hos­pi­tals and ambu­lance ser­vices. Details of appointment:

Per­ma­nent full time, day work­er (with on-call) posi­tion, work­ing 76 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing as soon as you can join our team.

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar full time, part time, and casu­al vacancies.

Salary: $144,146 per annum. Our Employ­er 12% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­ma­nia State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023.

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available:

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type

Salary Pack­ag­ing:

You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing liv­ing expens­es up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible. 

Ben­e­fits avail­able to eli­gi­ble candidates:

  • Trav­el and relo­ca­tion assis­tance sup­port avail­able up to $15,000 for eli­gi­ble appointees from over­seas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

  • Fit­ness Pass­port – You, and your fam­i­ly can access 40+ fit­ness facil­i­ties across Tas­ma­nia for just $14.50 per week per per­son, or $28.05 for a family.
