About us

The Broome Region­al Abo­rig­i­nal Med­ical Ser­vice (BRAMS) is an Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trolled Health Ser­vice which has been car­ing for the Broome com­mu­ni­ty for more than 45 years. When we first opened our doors in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Abo­rig­i­nal Med­ical Ser­vice in West­ern Australia.

We deliv­er com­pre­hen­sive, holis­tic and cul­tur­al­ly respon­sive pri­ma­ry health care, social and emo­tion­al well­be­ing ser­vices, and NDIS sup­port to more than 6500 Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander peo­ple in the Broome region.

About the role

In this reward­ing role, you’ll work direct­ly with clients to improve their dai­ly liv­ing, mobil­i­ty, and over­all well­be­ing — all while hon­our­ing cul­tur­al val­ues through the BRAMS Mod­el of Care. From con­duct­ing assess­ments and deliv­er­ing inter­ven­tions, to col­lab­o­rat­ing with­in a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team and coor­di­nat­ing refer­rals, no two days are the same.

About you

To be suc­cess­ful in this role, you must pos­sess a recog­nised ter­tiary qual­i­fi­ca­tion in Occu­pa­tion­al Ther­a­py, and cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with the Aus­tralian Health Prac­ti­tion­er Reg­u­la­tion Agency (AHPRA) as an Occu­pa­tion­al Therapist. 

The fol­low­ing is also desirable:

  • Sound under­stand­ing of the Abo­rig­i­nal Med­ical Ser­vice Mod­el of Care.
  • Pre­vi­ous expe­ri­ence with­in an Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trolled Health Service.
  • Demon­strat­ed skills in work­ing with­in a com­mu­ni­ty set­ting, in par­tic­u­lar the abil­i­ty to work as part of a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team.
  • Expe­ri­ence work­ing in the dis­abil­i­ty or aged care sector. 
  • Excel­lent under­stand­ing of the dis­abil­i­ty and aged care sec­tor, and the care and sup­port needs of Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander consumers.
  • Demon­strat­ed abil­i­ty to devel­op and sus­tain pro­duc­tive pro­fes­sion­al rela­tion­ships with rel­e­vant stakeholders.
  • Demon­strat­ed abil­i­ty to inde­pen­dent­ly man­age a workload.
  • Strong com­put­er skills and expe­ri­ence with clin­i­cal man­age­ment systems.
