The Spencer Clinic is a dynamic, contemporary, evidence based mental health team. The unit includes 2 psychiatrists, 2 Senior medical officers, an RMO, a social worker, a psychologist and a great team of nurses and support people.
The Team:
- There is a focus on ongoing professional development
- You will be privileged to walk alongside our consumers, their friends and families in their recovery journey.
- The next two years will see the opening of a new mental health unit at Burnie Hospital.
You Will Need:
- Compassion and empathy.
- Be an effective communicator able to establish therapeutic relationships with consumers and their friends and families.
- Be self-aware and use reflective practice.
- Be interested in people from all walks of life and have a non-judgemental attitude.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills including active listening.
- Have the ability to remain calm and use de-escalation skills.
- knowledge of the principles of nursing care and their application to a mental health/psychiatric nursing setting and the ability to develop clinical skills relevant to the designated area.
- Knowledge of the legal requirements, relevant policies, and the procedures of the practice setting.
- An understanding of the role of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC) competencies, the Nursing Act and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) in the regulation of nursing practice.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible to 20 July 2027.
Fixed term, part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing from 19 August 2025 until August 2027.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Location: North West, Tasmania
Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4 In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
