Job descrip­tion:

Per­ma­nent Role - The Alco­hol and Drug Ser­vices are seek­ing an enthu­si­as­tic Reg­is­tered Nurse to join the North West team.

The Team:

We pro­vide Alco­hol and Drug treat­ment options and sup­port ser­vices to clients includ­ing refer­ral path­ways. We are a mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary team (MDT) con­sist­ing of Allied Health, Nurs­ing and Med­ical Offices form­ing part of the Statewide Men­tal Health Ser­vice, Alco­hol and Drug unit.

We are locat­ed in Ulver­stone on the cen­tral coast of North­west Tasmania.

The Role:

Our ser­vices work close­ly with both the pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tors to focus on deliv­er­ing excel­lence in health­care to achieve improved out­comes for our con­sumers, our work­force, and the Tas­man­ian community.

The Reg­is­tered Nurse con­tributes to deliv­er­ing high-qual­i­ty alco­hol and oth­er drug treat­ment ser­vice in accor­dance with rel­e­vant Gov­ern­ment Leg­is­la­tion and Reg­u­la­tions, Pri­ma­ry Health Care Prin­ci­ples, Alco­hol and Drug Ser­vice (ADS) poli­cies, pro­ce­dures and pro­to­cols and rel­e­vant pro­fes­sion­al competencies.

We pro­vide a range of ser­vices including:

  • Com­pre­hen­sive clin­i­cal assess­ments, treat­ment and case man­age­ment ser­vices to clients (and their families/​carers)
  • Phar­ma­cother­a­py treat­ment and harm min­imi­sa­tion advice as part of the MDT process, includ­ing trav­el to out­reach cen­tres and in inpa­tient facilities.

You will need:

  • Com­pre­hen­sive knowl­edge of con­tem­po­rary evi­dence-based prac­tice used in the treat­ment and pre­ven­tion of alco­hol and oth­er drug depen­dence, includ­ing alco­hol and oth­er drug assess­ment, the harm min­imi­sa­tion frame­work, inter­ven­tions and pre­ven­tion activities.
  • Knowl­edge of, and the abil­i­ty to under­take, com­pre­hen­sive assess­ments and ther­a­peu­tic inter­ven­tions with com­plex AOD issues.
  • Knowl­edge of and abil­i­ty to devel­op, mon­i­tor and imple­ment qual­i­ty assur­ance and improve­ment activ­i­ties and/​or research.

Details of appointment:

Per­ma­nent, full time, day work­er posi­tion, work­ing 76 hours per fort­night, com­menc­ing as soon as possible.

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar full time, part time, and casu­al vacancies.

Loca­tion: Ulver­stone, Tasmania

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employ­er 12% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount. 

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­ma­nia State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is sub­ject to suc­cess­ful appli­ca­tion for pro­gres­sion to Grade 4

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available:

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10% based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type

Eli­gi­bil­i­ty:

Suc­cess­ful appli­cants will be required to meet the essen­tial criteria.

  • Reg­is­tered with the Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board of Aus­tralia as a Reg­is­tered Nurse
  • Appli­cants should note the fol­low­ing cri­te­ria are desirable:
  • Com­plet­ed or work­ing towards post grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tions in AOD
  • Cur­rent Driver’s Licence
