About the Opportunity

As a Reg­is­tered Nurse, you’ll pro­vide com­pas­sion­ate, high-qual­i­ty patient care while work­ing along­side sup­port­ive col­leagues who val­ue your exper­tise and pro­fes­sion­al growth.

  • Wom­bat Ward is a 16-bed pae­di­atric lev­el 3 inpa­tient unit car­ing for gen­er­al, sur­gi­cal, orthopaedic and men­tal health pae­di­atric patients aged 0 – 17 years of age across the north­west coast of Tas­ma­nia. The pae­di­atric team works close­ly as part of a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary team to deliv­er excel­lence in health­care and achieve improved out­comes for our con­sumers, our work­force, and the Tas­man­ian Community

What You’ll Do

  • Deliv­er com­pre­hen­sive nurs­ing care across var­i­ous hos­pi­tal departments
  • Col­lab­o­rate with mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary teams to ensure opti­mal patient outcomes
  • Sup­port patients and fam­i­lies through their health­care journey
  • Main­tain accu­rate clin­i­cal doc­u­men­ta­tion and records
  • Con­tribute to qual­i­ty improve­ment ini­tia­tives and evi­dence-based practice
  • Men­tor junior staff and nurs­ing students

What We’re Look­ing For

  • Cur­rent knowl­edge of, and the abil­i­ty to apply nurs­ing prin­ci­ples, pro­ce­dures and prac­tices in the deliv­ery of patient/​client care in a des­ig­nat­ed prac­tice area and in line with legal require­ments and the Aus­tralian Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Board (NMBA) Reg­is­tered Nurse stan­dards for practice
  • Cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with AHPRA as a Reg­is­tered Nurse
  • Strong clin­i­cal assess­ment and crit­i­cal think­ing skills
  • Excel­lent com­mu­ni­ca­tion and inter­per­son­al abilities
  • Com­mit­ment to patient-cen­tered care and safety
  • Abil­i­ty to work effec­tive­ly in a team environment
  • Flex­i­bil­i­ty to work across dif­fer­ent shifts and departments
  • Post-grad­u­ate qual­i­fi­ca­tions in Pae­di­atric Nurs­ing (desir­able).

Details of appointment:

  • Per­ma­nent, full time, shift work­er (ful­ly rota­tion­al) posi­tion, com­menc­ing from as soon as you can join us!

Appli­cants should note that, for a peri­od of twelve months from the date of pub­li­ca­tion, this selec­tion process may be used to fill sub­se­quent or sim­i­lar part time and casu­al vacancies.

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employ­er 12% super­an­nu­a­tion con­tri­bu­tion is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accor­dance with Nurs­es and Mid­wives (Tas­ma­nia State Ser­vice) Agree­ment 2023.
  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is sub­ject to suc­cess­ful appli­ca­tion for pro­gres­sion to Grade 4

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing allowances cal­cu­lat­ed on the salaried incre­men­tal point may be available: 

  • Post Grad­u­ate Allowance of up to 10% based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion type

Salary Pack­ag­ing:

You’ll have access to salary pack­age a range of ben­e­fits includ­ing liv­ing expens­es up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal enter­tain­ment each FBT year + oth­er ben­e­fits if eligible. 

Ben­e­fits avail­able to eli­gi­ble candidates 

  • Trav­el and relo­ca­tion assis­tance sup­port avail­able up to $15,000 for eli­gi­ble appointees from over­seas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
