About us

The Red Lily Health Board Abo­rig­i­nal Cor­po­ra­tion (RLHB) is a region­al health ser­vice that aims to empow­er Abo­rig­i­nal peo­ple in the West Arn­hem region, seek­ing to address health issues in the com­mu­ni­ty with the long-term vision improv­ing health out­comes by estab­lish­ing a region­al Abo­rig­i­nal com­mu­ni­ty-con­trolled mod­el of ser­vice delivery.

About Gun­bal­anya:

300km east of Dar­win and 60km north­east of Jabiru across the East Alli­ga­tor Riv­er in Arn­hem Land. Gun­bal­anya is a major Abo­rig­i­nal town in Arn­hem Land, with a school (pre-school to Year 12), ser­vice sta­tion and con­ve­nience store, super­mar­ket, police sta­tion, crèche facil­i­ties, aged care, sports and social club, butch­er and com­mu­ni­ty arts cen­tre in the community.

Access to Gunbalanya:

  • Year-round via air char­ter from Jabiru Airport.
  • Dry sea­son (May – Nov): Road access.
  • Wet sea­son (Nov – Apr): The riv­er cross­ing at Cahill’s Cross­ing, East Alli­ga­tor Riv­er, is usu­al­ly impassable.

About the Role:

The posi­tion will be part of the Red Lily Clin­i­cal Ser­vices team (based at Gun­bal­anya) that deliv­ers high qual­i­ty and cul­tur­al­ly secure pri­ma­ry health­care to all peo­ple in the Gun­bal­anya region. You will be respon­si­ble for pro­vid­ing high qual­i­ty and cul­tur­al­ly appro­pri­ate pri­ma­ry health­care to the com­mu­ni­ty of Gun­bal­anya and sur­round­ing home­lands, includ­ing vis­i­tors. This posi­tion requires an under­stand­ing of issues affect­ing Abo­rig­i­nal health, prin­ci­ples of Pri­ma­ry Health Care and rel­e­vant leg­is­la­tion gov­ern­ing work prac­tices in a remote health setting.

You will be part of a team that includes Health Cen­tre Man­ag­er, GP, Remote Area Nurs­es, Abo­rig­i­nal Health Prac­ti­tion­ers and admin­is­tra­tion staff work­ing along­side com­mu­ni­ty engage­ment work­ers, as well as a wide range of out­reach spe­cial­ists and ser­vice providers. The posi­tion will be sup­port­ed by an expe­ri­enced remote lead­er­ship team report­ing to the Direc­tor of Pri­ma­ry Healthcare.

About You:

  1. Cur­rent reg­is­tra­tion with AHPRA
  2. Expe­ri­ence in remote area set­ting in Australia
  3. Proven clin­i­cal expe­ri­ence and adaptability
  4. Strong com­mu­ni­ca­tion and team­work skills
  5. A com­mit­ment to ongo­ing pro­fes­sion­al development
  6. Ready to trav­el to remote com­mu­ni­ties by air and 4WD,
  7. Par­tic­i­pate in a 24-hour on-call roster.
