Placement Support (Flinders University)
Flinders University provides support and assistance to students undergoing Nursing and Allied Health Professional Experience Placements and Remote Health Practice Placements in Central Australia. Support is also provided for universities and clinical supervisors.
Students from any university and any health-related course are welcome to access their services. Student placement opportunities exist in hospitals, health clinics in remote communities and private and public health departments. Read about how they can help.

The Carmel Baulderstone Memorial Scholarship (Flinders University)
This scholarship provides assistance to undergraduate nursing students undertaking their Bachelor of Nursing course at Flinders Uni, who are enrolled in the second or third year of the course to undertake a Professional Experience Placement at a College of Nursing and Health Sciences-approved clinical education facility in a rural or remote setting. Continuing Professional Development (Post-graduate Study Support)
The Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP) by NTPHN
The Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP) provides scholarships and bursaries to help health professionals in rural and remote Australia enhance and retain their skills, capacity and scope of practice. The HWSP is available to health professionals working in medical, nursing/midwifery, dental, allied health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. Workers providing primary health care services to locations in MM 3 – 7 within private practice, non-government and not-for-profit sector are eligible to apply. Health professionals providing primary health care services in an Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS) or Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) can be located within a MM 1 — 7 location. Flinders University Student Placement Support (Across Disciplines)
Students undertaking the Remote Health Practice Postgraduate Award Courses offered through Flinders’ Alice Springs Campus are required to undertake remote placements as well as face-to-face intensives in Alice Springs. Transition to Remote Area Nursing Course
This Centre for Remote Health course is for registered nurses new to remote health, considering a career move to remote area nursing or interested in remote/rural contracts. The 10-day face-to-face short course prepares registered nurses with the skills and knowledge required to become effective members of remote primary health care teams. Discover this opportunity.
NT Employed Model Program – Nurse or Nurse/Midwife
The employed model program provides paid employment in the Territory, while you undertake 1 or 2 year, part-time study through a university.
This NT Health initiative aims to support nurses with, gain relevant skills, experience and knowledge in Population and Primary Health Care (PPHC) with a specific focus on remote area nursing. Conditions apply.
Candidates are required to successfully complete a Graduate Certificate in Remote Health or Primary Health Care from an approved university as part of the program.
