Place­ment Sup­port (Flinders University)

Flinders Uni­ver­si­ty pro­vides sup­port and assis­tance to stu­dents under­go­ing Nurs­ing and Allied Health Pro­fes­sion­al Expe­ri­ence Place­ments and Remote Health Prac­tice Place­ments in Cen­tral Aus­tralia. Sup­port is also pro­vid­ed for uni­ver­si­ties and clin­i­cal supervisors.

Stu­dents from any uni­ver­si­ty and any health-relat­ed course are wel­come to access their ser­vices. Stu­dent place­ment oppor­tu­ni­ties exist in hos­pi­tals, health clin­ics in remote com­mu­ni­ties and pri­vate and pub­lic health depart­ments. Read about how they can help.

The Carmel Baul­der­stone Memo­r­i­al Schol­ar­ship (Flinders University)

This schol­ar­ship pro­vides assis­tance to under­grad­u­ate nurs­ing stu­dents under­tak­ing their Bach­e­lor of Nurs­ing course at Flinders Uni, who are enrolled in the sec­ond or third year of the course to under­take a Pro­fes­sion­al Expe­ri­ence Place­ment at a Col­lege of Nurs­ing and Health Sci­ences-approved clin­i­cal edu­ca­tion facil­i­ty in a rur­al or remote set­ting. Con­tin­u­ing Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment (Post-grad­u­ate Study Support)

The Health Work­force Schol­ar­ship Pro­gram (HWSP) by NTPHN

The Health Work­force Schol­ar­ship Pro­gram (HWSP) pro­vides schol­ar­ships and bur­saries to help health pro­fes­sion­als in rur­al and remote Aus­tralia enhance and retain their skills, capac­i­ty and scope of prac­tice. The HWSP is avail­able to health pro­fes­sion­als work­ing in med­ical, nursing/​midwifery, den­tal, allied health and Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander health. Work­ers pro­vid­ing pri­ma­ry health care ser­vices to loca­tions in MM 3 – 7 with­in pri­vate prac­tice, non-gov­ern­ment and not-for-prof­it sec­tor are eli­gi­ble to apply. Health pro­fes­sion­als pro­vid­ing pri­ma­ry health care ser­vices in an Abo­rig­i­nal Med­ical Ser­vice (AMS) or Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­ni­ty Con­trolled Health Organ­i­sa­tion (ACCHO) can be locat­ed with­in a MM 1 — 7 loca­tion. Flinders Uni­ver­si­ty Stu­dent Place­ment Sup­port (Across Disciplines)

Stu­dents under­tak­ing the Remote Health Prac­tice Post­grad­u­ate Award Cours­es offered through Flinders’ Alice Springs Cam­pus are required to under­take remote place­ments as well as face-to-face inten­sives in Alice Springs. Flinders offers assis­tance and sup­port for stu­dent place­ments through accom­mo­da­tion and trans­port. Read more.


Ear­ly Career/​Career Redi­rect (RN/MID-EN)

Tran­si­tion to Remote Area Nurs­ing Course

This Cen­tre for Remote Health course is for reg­is­tered nurs­es new to remote health, con­sid­er­ing a career move to remote area nurs­ing or inter­est­ed in remote/​rural con­tracts. The 10-day face-to-face short course pre­pares reg­is­tered nurs­es with the skills and knowl­edge required to become effec­tive mem­bers of remote pri­ma­ry health care teams. NT Employed Mod­el Pro­gram – Nurse or Nurse/​Midwife

The employed mod­el pro­gram pro­vides paid employ­ment in the Ter­ri­to­ry, while you under­take 1 or 2 year, part-time study through a university.

This NT Health ini­tia­tive aims to sup­port nurs­es with, gain rel­e­vant skills, expe­ri­ence and knowl­edge in Pop­u­la­tion and Pri­ma­ry Health Care (PPHC) with a spe­cif­ic focus on remote area nurs­ing. Con­di­tions apply.

Can­di­dates are required to suc­cess­ful­ly com­plete a Grad­u­ate Cer­tifi­cate in Remote Health or Pri­ma­ry Health Care from an approved uni­ver­si­ty as part of the program.
