The course is designed to meet the learn­ing needs of the remote and rur­al health work­force, espe­cial­ly nurs­es and rur­al gen­er­al prac­ti­tion­ers who may be required to per­form triage.

Course deliv­ery

The Zoom work­shop for the Triage Emer­gency Care Inten­sive online course is designed to be com­plet­ed in one day. The course deliv­ers the same con­tent as our tra­di­tion­al cours­es using a com­bi­na­tion of:

  • Five self-direct­ed online learn­ing mod­ules includ­ing case sce­nar­ios, quizzes and activities
  • Online dis­cus­sion boards
  • 1 full-day online Zoom inten­sive workshop

Please note that the above com­po­nents of the course must be com­plet­ed to receive the TEC cer­tifi­cate, includ­ing 100% atten­dance at the one-day live online Zoom work­shop. Work­shop times are shown in Aus­tralian East­ern Stan­dard Time and will need to be con­vert­ed to local time by inter­state attendees.

On suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course, clin­i­cians will be able to:
  • Demon­strate an under­stand­ing of the Aus­tralasian Triage Scale and its imple­men­ta­tion in the workplace.
  • Demon­strate the prin­ci­ples of triage assess­ment tech­niques using a pri­ma­ry sur­vey approach. 
  • Give con­sid­er­a­tion to safe­ty, com­mu­ni­ca­tion and bias when under­tak­ing triage.
  • Devel­op an under­stand­ing of the medico-legal aspects of triage.
  • Devel­op an under­stand­ing of the unique dif­fer­ences between urban and rur­al triage practices.

Please note: this course does not assess for triage com­pe­ten­cy. Com­pe­ten­cy assess­ment is deter­mined by your indi­vid­ual workplace/​organisational requirements.

On suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion par­tic­i­pants will be awarded:
  • A CRANAplus Triage Emer­gency Care Course cer­tifi­cate (Valid for 2 years)
