Pathway Incentives

CRANAplus maps the state-based and national pathways and incentives available to nurses and midwives of all experience levels.

The CRANAplus Path­way Incen­tives resource is a defin­i­tive guide to the schol­ar­ships, grants, pro­grams and oth­er career path­way sup­port avail­able to remote area nurs­es and mid­wives.

Launched in web­page for­mat after com­ple­tion in July 2021, the resource col­lates all avail­able oppor­tu­ni­ties from around the coun­try into one con­ve­nient, cen­tralised data­base.

Oppor­tu­ni­ties are sep­a­rat­ed into their respec­tive states and ter­ri­to­ries, and nation­wide incen­tives have their own sec­tion. With­in sub­pages, data is fur­ther bro­ken down into career stages.

Why is this resource important?

This resource aims to increase aware­ness of oppor­tu­ni­ties and sup­port for nurs­es and mid­wives, so that these ini­tia­tives can suc­cess­ful­ly reach their audi­ence and achieve their goals.

Remote area nurs­es and mid­wives ser­vice vul­ner­a­ble Aus­tralian com­mu­ni­ties, yet work­force short­ages pose a chal­lenge to redress­ing health inequal­i­ty. By pro­vid­ing and pro­mot­ing a cen­tralised repos­i­to­ry of oppor­tu­ni­ties, we aim to facil­i­tate work­force growth and fur­ther estab­lish remote area nurs­ing as a specialty.

This resource also high­lights short­com­ings in incen­tivi­sa­tion that could be redressed through the estab­lish­ment of addi­tion­al programs.

Who is this resource for?

For nurs­es and mid­wives who are con­sid­er­ing or pur­su­ing a career path into remote area prac­tice. This resource is suit­able for health pro­fes­sion­als at every stage of their career, whether they are study­ing or have decades of experience.

How was the data compiled?

Through exten­sive research and stake­hold­er con­sul­ta­tion. CRANAplus reached out to organ­i­sa­tions around the coun­try, with­in and beyond its pro­fes­sion­al net­works, in order to present this infor­ma­tion exhaus­tive­ly. We extend our appre­ci­a­tion to all organ­i­sa­tions that have par­tic­i­pat­ed so far.
